WAGON TRAIN
Formed in 2009 to record and play live Steve's original music which was initially influenced by the Spaghetti Western sountracks of Ennio Morricone alongside a jazz sensibility, the band grew to be influenced by other genres such as dustbowl country music, psychedelia, rockabilly and blues. Most recently, their music was used on the docu-film 'The last shop standing' and in July, the band sold out their gig at the Manchester Jazz festival. Wagon Train are about to embark on a fresh run of gigs coming up over the next few months and a new batch of recordings.

KIRSTY MCGEE & THE HOBOPOP COLLECTIVE
The literate, cinematic style of songwriter Kirsty McGee’s music combines wry observation with a grainy old-time black-and-white feel reminding us of auteurs like Jim Jarmusch or the Coen Brothers.
Her seven studio albums have earned her critical acclaim, national airplay & well over a decade of solid touring. Her song Sandman was chosen by Danny Boyle as a cornerstone for his 2013 thriller Trance. McGee defines hobopop – a noun she has used to describe her music - as “music of no fixed genre”. Her choice of left-field musical misfits for her ever-changing band The Hobopop Collective reflects that vagrant spirit. The band's new album Those Old Demons showcases a cross-section of top players whose musical credits range from Alison Krauss, Elvis Costello and Tom Waits to Aim and Richard Hawley. Unified by a sense of joyous mischief, the Collective steer a clapped-out Model T through a junkyard of dirty blues, cubist shuffle, neo-jazz and wry noir. A joyful and irreverent melée of devil-songs, the enjoyment in which it is impossible to miss.
This is the first studio album from the band since their award winning No.5 [A Live Album] in 2009. As this is the band's Manchester launch, expect a big celebration and the biggest manifestation of Collective members since 2009.
THE WEAVE
The Weave is a collection of some of Liverpool's best established Jazz musicians, bringing together an extremely wide range of influences and musical experience to create a repertoire of warm, melodic and joyous homespun originals.
Since forming in August of 2012 when they recorded their debut album, The Weave won tour support from Jazz North on their Northern Line Ambassadors scheme, and have toured extensively in England, including playing to packed houses at the Liverpool, Manchester, Wigan, Congleton and Teignmouth International Jazz Festivals.
Their album has recieved widespread critical acclaim both nationally and internationally with glowing reviews from top New York critics Mark Myers and Howard Mandel, and has won radio support from the likes of Mark Radcliffe, Jazz FM, UK Jazz Radio.

ABOUT MIX UP
Mix Up is a monthly live music night which as the name suggests features three musical acts across different styles and forms.
Held on the first Thursday of the month at The Klondyke Club in Levenshulme (1 Burnage Range, third road on the left from Levenshulme Station off Albert Road, walking towards Burnage – call 0161 224 4122) the night promises to offer three quality bands, all for a nominal entry fee.
MIX UP is a cracking night of live music featuring the cream of Manchester’s music scene. We will soon be confirming further acts for future nights.
